How is a Federal Pell Grant received, after it has been awarded?

federal grant
bigshotcl26 asked:

I just received an email today on my college address saying that I had been awarded my Federal Pell grant for the year, which totaled $4,700. So, now that I have been awarded the money is it ok to enroll in classes or do I have to wait for an actual check from the college?

I don’t want to enroll online and them charge me money for the classes when my pell grant should pay for it.

Classes started yesterday so I need to enroll as soon as possible.

When I got mine, (and I received similar notification) it was already waiting when I enrolled in classes, so I didn’t have to pay anything. To be sure you can call your college’s financial aid department and they can let you know for certain.

yea it’s ok you should have already enrolled for classes!!
usually the grants are taken care of through the school so you dont have to worry about cashing a check and paying the school. the school keeps the whole thing and at the end of the semester if there is any left over, your financial aid office will give you a reimbursement check….

Hello…. you should have enrolled in classes months ago. Everything is probably closed. ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS enroll in classes the first few days of enrollment (this was back in April). Waiting and missing the first day of class is a big no-no. Call the school and enroll IMMEDIATELY. You’ve made a mistake. Hope its not too late.
